Inspectors' reports of the "Selma incident," 1976.

This series was created by inspectors who were assigned to investigate any incident occurring at boxing or wrestling matches. This series contains reports of two commission inspectors on a match in Selma, Ala. on 1976 Aug. 14, between Sweetdaddy Banks, Burrhead Jones, Greg Peterson, and the Greenshadow. During the match Sweetdaddy attacked Peterson outside the ring, then assaulted Burrhead with a stick in the ring. When the referee and Burrhead retired to the dressing room, Sweetdaddy and the Greenshadow remained in the ring and taunted the crowd. The crowd began to throw chairs in the ring. Sweetdaddy returned them to the audience striking Odelia Cherry, an elderly lady, who required medical treatment. Police suspended the matches. An audio cassette of the match is included. In 1980 the Boxing and Wrestling Commission was abolished and its duties were transferred to the newly created State Athletic Commission.
